3 reasons to cruise the Mediterranean

I love cruises, and I can talk about them all day. My favorite experiences have been from cruise vacations. I chose Semester at Sea, using a ship as its traveling campus and sailing to multiple ports around the world, as my abroad experience because I enjoy being on a ship. In the past seven years, I have been on seven cruises. I have traveled to the Caribbean on all my past cruises besides this year. My favorite islands are the following: 

• St. Thomas 
• Puerto Rico 
• Antigua 

I have made wonderful friendships on each cruise. I am happy to say I have kept in touch with everyone until this day with the help of social media, specifically Facebook! It is incredible how fast a strong friendship can form in one week. I love being able to explore on my own during the day and return to the ship in the evening and listen to everyone's stories. It is as if you traveled with them too. You not only gain knowledge from your own experience, but also theirs. 

If you have not tried a cruise, I highly suggest it. It's the #1 thing I'm going to make you do.

I took my first Mediterranean cruise this summer from Rome, Italy. In one week, I visited the following islands:

• Cannes, France 
• Ajaccio, Corsica 
• Barcelona, Spain 
• Palma de Mallorca, Spain 

I am excited for my next Mediterranean cruise!

My 3 reasons to cruise the Mediterranean:

1.  Tapas (appetizers)-taste test 
   1. If you enjoy a country for a day, you're more likely to go back and visit for a week or more 
2. A place to call home-the ship  
   1. If you are uncomfortable, nervous etc. in a foreign country, the ship is always waiting for your return 
3.  Excellent references and recommendations 
   1. Staff and crew members have the best and honest advice for each port of call
